Knowledge Exchange

One of the challenges that we have the opportunity to address within the framework of the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research LIVES is that of intensifying and increasing the levels of interchange between researchers in life course and stakeholders in social policy. I would like to emphasise here the basis of that exchange of information: professionals working in social action policies have knowledge and questions which academics must take into account, and, on the other hand, researchers have knowledge which merits the attention of stakeholders in social policies, whether they come from the world of politics, public administration, or the private or non-profit sectors.

Un des défis que nous avons la chance de pouvoir affronter dans le cadre du Pôle de recherche national LIVES est celui d’intensifier et de faire fructifier les échanges entre des chercheurs dans le domaine des parcours de vie et les acteurs des politiques sociales. Je voudrais souligner ici le terme d’échange : les professionnels des politiques d’action sociale ont des connaissances et des questions que les universitaires se doivent de prendre en compte, et à l’inverse les chercheurs ont des savoirs qui méritent l’attention des acteurs des politiques sociales, qu’ils proviennent du monde politique, des administrations publiques, du milieu associatif ou du privé.

	The aim of social investment is to prevent vulnerability by intervening right from the start of the life course. In the presence of very eminent experts in the field, an international conference and a round table discussion will assess this strategy, which is growing in Europe and elsewhere, but is still largely undeveloped in Swiss institutions and is also the subject of some criticism. The conference will take place on 10 and 11 April 2014 at the University of Lausanne. >>> MORE L’investissement social vise à prévenir l’apparition de la vulnérabilité en intervenant dès le début du parcours de vie. En présence de très éminents spécialistes de la question, une conférence internationale accompagnée d’une table ronde propose d’évaluer cette stratégie montante en Europe et ailleurs, mais encore peu développée dans les institutions suisses et qui suscite aussi certaines critiques. A suivre les 10 et 11 avril 2014 à l’Université de Lausanne. >>> PLUS Soziale Investitionen zielen darauf ab, dem Auftreten von Verwundbarkeit vorzubeugen, indem bereits zu Beginn des Lebensverlaufs eingegriffen wird. Im Rahmen einer internationalen Konferenz mit anschliessendem Runden Tisch erfolgt unter Mitwirkung prominenter Experten in diesem Bereich eine Bewertung der in Europa wie weltweit immer populäreren Strategie, die allerdings in Schweizer Institutionen noch nicht sehr weit verbreitet ist und zudem für einige kritische Stimmen gesorgt hat.
