Abstract | The Great Recession had a profound impact on the labour market. Unemployment increased substantially and rapidly in almost all developed countries in the aftermath. While the unemployment rate began to decrease shortly after the crisis, this did not necessarily translate into a return to pre-recession levels. In fact, it took ten years for employment levels to recover to pre-2008 levels. |
